WOM Vegas and more

The last few days I have been sitting in on some Google hangouts with some really neat people that are part of a place on the Internet called WOM Vegas. WOM Vegas is the brainchild of Timothy Drobnick of Gahanna, Ohio here in the US. It is sort of like Facebook or Myspace but with more things to do that can earn you some extra money. You may not get rich playing games and stuff at WOM Vegas, but you certainly have a better chance of coming home a winner than if you play the slots at Las Vegas or Atlantic City. You also have more of a chance of making money on Wom Vegas than most people will on Facebook.

I have learned a considerable amount of very interesting stuff in the hangout with Tim and some other people that are part of WOM Vegas. WOM Vegas is actually an acronym WOM is for word of mouth, such as Word of Mouth advertising. Vegas of course eludes to Las Vegas but not because you can play high stakes slot machines or do other stuff you can do in Las Vegas. The reason the name Vegas was chosen is because Las Vegas is where a considerable number of conventions and conference etc are held. Tim had the plan for WOM Vegas to be the Online Equivalent of “Vegas” the Conference Center Capital.

I also found out that you can become a sales agent for free and actually buy and sell advertising at the site and it is pretty reasonable starting at 1.00. I have been playing around the site since going to the 1st Google Hangout a couple days back and have actually bought a few ads for Empower Network to see how they would do. You can use WOM Vegas stuff to promote other businesses or Wom Vegas can be your business, it is totally up to you.

WOM Vegas much like Myspace or Facebook is totally Free to join, you can become a sales agent if you want, but you don’t have to. There are numerous Chat Rooms and several various games such as Bingo. You may meet your next best friend there, or maybe not. You won’t know unless you join and that takes about 15 seconds and 0 dollars, so go join already here is the link.

Many years ago I met a Professional Marketer by the name of James Tolleson, his brother Rodney, and Brian Riddle. They were all very good salesman and were quite knowledgeable in marketing. James was the one that did a lot of the semnars back then, maybe he still does. I googled that name once and he apparently is still alive and still marketing just not as highly visible as he was then. I sure hope they are all doing well.

James was at that time very good at giving acronyms to his teachings and it really helps you remember. I remember him saying that you should always remember the PIE principle. PIE stands for Profit in Everything. I took that to mean that even if you go into a deal and you lose money, you still learn something from that deal. If you lose your money because of something the other person did you may not want to take that person up on his next deal. What if you lost money because of something you did, wouldn't you carefully avoid making that same mistake in the next investment you make with your time and money?

Another thing he talked about were the 4 P's let me see if I can remember them Profit, Protection, Pride and Pleasure I think. You should do everything for Profit first, but profit should be divided into 3 sections also. 1st and foremost should be profit for God, 2nd Profit for the other person or persons in the deal, 3 profit for yourself. Put yourself last in a business deal and you come out on top. Kind of reverse of what most of us try to do isn't it. The second P is for protection (insurance if you like) you will want to have some assurance that all parties will do their part.

I went into business a few years back with a person that was suppose to do several things in leu of putting up any funds, I would put up the money, buy most of the materials and this person was suppose to provide much of the labor. The big problem is the only assurance I had was the person's word and it was not kept, so the business went under and I took a big financial loss. I did learn then though to get everything in writing and to spell out the entire arrangent on paper.

The third P is for Pride. I know the bible tells us that Pride is a sin. I believe that there the lord is talking more about what most people would call vanity, than the Pride Mr Tolleson was talking about. I think he is more talking about the pride in a Job well done type thing. Like when we win a race or beat our last time out in a time trial or maybe cook an exceptionally good dinner. If we don't take some "pride" in our work then how can we feel good about it. When I repair a bicycle I want the bicycle to stay repaired for a while and I also want the customer to be happy. If I didn't take some pride in my work, do you think that either of these things would be common? I dought it.

The last P of the 4 was for Pleasure. We all need time to enjoy life no matter how much we tell ourselves we don't. Too many people have literally worked themselves to death. Take time to smell the roses is not just a catch phrase. Work Hard and play hard, or just enjoy life, each iof us will have a different way to relax and have pleasure. Some will ride a bicycle down a mountain trail and others will walk in the flowers or maybe go for a picnic it is totally up to the individual, but it is important.

Mr Tolleson said that if you keep these P's in order and you run your business and life this way then you will be successful. I have been trying hard to do just that.

Sometimes though you have to go with your gut feeling. I joined Empower Network for just that reason. I had been trying to set up a wordpress blog for awhile. I have used 1and1.com as my website host for several years and really did not see a reason to change. The one thing though that I have not been able to do with 1 and 1 is to get a wordpress.org blog to work right on their server. It will load or at least appears that all the files are there, but getting it to actually do anything is about like getting oil to mix with water. They have their own version of a Wordpress blog called a 1and1 blog which is not really any good for marketers. I am sure that most mareketers know that wordpress.org software is the way to go and it won't take you long to find out that wordpress.org is far supperior from a marketing aspect than wordpress.com and yes there is a tremendous difference. Wordpress. com is set up on the Wordpress server, wordpress.org is a software package you download. Other than having some operational similarities they are as different as day and night from a marketing standpoint.

Van Repair and Wall

Today I have to meet a man named Charles at the Bike Shop so he can look at baskets for
his bike. He wants a very large basket. He did not say why or exactly how large the
basket needs to be. He did say the basket he seen in the shop that is the same as the one
on Ruth’s bike was too small. We are supposed to meet sometime between 9 and 10:30. I
have a catalog that he can look at and we can order him one from it.

In addition to that the van still needs one more new part to be completely back to good
working order. The part is what they call a master switch for the window console. That is
the conglomeration of switches on the driver’s door panel that control window, doors,
seats mirrors etc. The plan right now is that I will drive out to Robert Hutson’s and drop
off the van with Rob (The Mechanic). Rob will take care of installing the switch and
making it work.

While Rob and his crew are working on the Van, I will ride my bicycle down to the book
store where the bike shop is and work on finishing that wall I started while waiting on the
man looking for a basket. I have plenty of work left to do on it. The job calls for a 29’
long wall which right now is 25’ long, so must add another 4 ‘ there. The door still needs
roughed in and then hung. The 14’ wall that will be at the end of the 29’ wall still needs
built and there are numerous 2X4 boards in the back of the shop that need cleaned of
nails and such so I can use them for the project. Once I have the wall up and the door
hung then I will start adding sheets of this brown paneling type of board that we have a
considerable amount of. That will cover the entire outside. No one has said what the
inside will be covered with if anything at all. The walls will be 29’ X 14’, so it will make
a pretty decent size room.

The large wall with the door in it has 16” O.C. Studs. I was told by someone who claims
to be a professional carpenter that I could go to 24” on the back wall (14’) since the wall
was non weight bearing and that there was no door, the 24” would save considerable
lumber. I can definitely see how it would save lumber. I guess if we decide to put a door
in later we just take out a stud and that would give you 4 “ to frame the door into, so that
would not be so bad.

There is still some stuff on the riser that will be in the way of me building the 14’ wall, so I will need to move all that and there is still some lumber that was previously used for
another project that I will “reclaim” for this one. That means disassembling the railing
they had been and using the wood for the wall. Most of the longer pieces are close to 8’
while the short ones are close to 3’. I can use the 3’ boards to frame in the door or if they decide they want a window.

Probably for right now, I can move the saws, drills etc into the new “room” which will
give me more room to build that 14’ wall. Once the wall is built and tied to the other wall
and the outside wall then it is a matter of adding the covering. I have not yet tried to
locate enough of that to cover the wall. To cover the 29’ foot wall will take roughly 7-
4X8’ sheets of paneling.

I have a small compressor with nail/staple gun that should make putting the paneling on
go fairly quick. Ruth bought the compressor and tools for it at Lowe’s for Father’s day. I
have only used the compressor so far, not the staple gun attachment. I will get to really
put that through a test putting up this wall.

I am going to try to find seven nice pieces of the paneling board to use o the 29’ wall
which will show out into the main floor. I can piece the 14’ wall together with smaller
pieces, as it will not be as visible. No one has said whether the brown panel board will
need to be painted or not. We have a tenant waiting to move in, so I want to get it done
quickly but I also want it to be solid.

Our tenants seem very sweet. They are 2 ladies that do crafts and were taking these crafts
to various craft fairs and such to sell them. They have rented the room I ma building on
an ongoing basis for a workshop and they have also rented a 20 X 20 room in the front of
the store where they can display their wares and sell stuff .

Old Bikes and More

The bike shop that is located inside Christian Books & More is one of the places I
work when I am not doing any Internet Marketing. I work there and at a local
hospital. I want to tell you some things about the bike shop that I have found
interesting and you may also. The local hospital is where I make the bulk of my
income, not from the bike shop or Internet Marketing.

First let’s make it clear that I do not own the bike shop, I am an independent
contractor that is paid to 1 repair bikes and 2 Sell bikes, really even though I do a
lot more those are the only 2 things for which I receive compensation at the bike
shop area of Christian Books & More. If no bikes are sold and no bikes are in for
repair, I do not make any money at all at the shop.

I operate an Internet site and sell some cycling stuff including bikes through my
websites as an Amazon and Bike Nashbar Affiliate, but repairs all go through
Christian Books & More as well as local bicycle sales.

Anyway the bike shop can be a very interesting place and a lot of fun too. Normally
it is fairly routine, bike comes in find out what it takes to fix it and if the bike is
worth that much you contact the owner get an OK on the estimate, check to see if
you have the parts, place an order if you don’t and then you fix the bike. Sounds
pretty simple and rather boring and many would find it just that.

Personally I find that bicycles are fascinating machines and I learn something new
from each bike I repair as well as something from virtually every customer. While
the new bikes are fantastic pieces of modern engineering the bikes from bygone days
bring back memories. The very first bike that I worked on that was not my own was
a 10 Speed Schwinn Racing bike. I was 11 years old and broke a friend’s bike by
accident so felt obligated to repair it or pay for the repair. Since I had very little
money I told him to bring it to the house the next day and I would fix it. I then took
a ride to the Whizzer Bike Shop in Lima Ohio and spoke with a very nice old
gentlemen , there, he was probably 40 or so, told him what had happened and he
showed me on a bike in the shop how to fix the problem. I never did know the
man’s real name he was always just Mr. Whizzer to me. I bought a new cable from
him for a little over 1.00 that I had earned selling Grit newspapers and installed it
on the Schwinn the next day. My friend was very impressed that I knew how to do
that.

When I was in the Navy several years later I read where that sweet gentleman that
had helped me that time on my friend’s bike and many times later on my own bikes
was killed by two young men trying to rob his store. I don’t know whether the men
that killed him were ever caught or convicted The register had something like 49.00
in it. What a terrible waste of a life for such a small amount of money.

My son in law’s brother Josh was murdered a few years back, doing the same thing
Mr. Whizzer was, trying to earn a living. Josh was called to pick up a junk car,
that is what he did for a living he bought and sold junk cars and scrap metal. He
arrived at the residence to pick it up and the actual events that went on are a little
blurry. The man that called him to pick up the car had no car to sell. The idea was
to get Josh alone with money and rob him. Whether the idea was to kill Josh we
really don’t know. The man claimed to have hit Josh with a baseball bat then shoot
him. Then he wrapped the body in and old rug and dragged it behind the house
trying to get the body back in the woods. Josh was only 5’6 but over 200 lbs and a
body builder so the weight was just too much to pull or push so the man set the body
on fire. The police found the charred body wrapped in a rug near the edge of the
woods.

I will always remember walking around the ponds and the area where Josh’s truck
was found abandoned. We didn’t find the body that day. They brought in a chopper
with special sensors and I noticed that the chopper kept coming back to the same
place, but the Police would not say they found the body with that much family there.
Once the family was cleared out they further investigated and found the body and
the murderer who confessed and is now in jail, but that doesn’t bring back my
Grandson’s Uncle Josh who they dearly loved. Mr. Whizzer would probably be
dead by now as he was something like 58 or 59 when he was killed and that was in
the early 70’s, but Josh was only 27 and would have had many years ahead of him
still.

I could probably blog daily about the things that happen at the shop, or memories
from my youth that have something to do with bikes, but I will try to pick out some
of the more interesting events and relay some interesting stories that I have heard.

One thing I always enjoy is when someone brings in an old antique bike and wants it
fixed or even completely restored. Those old bikes bring back a lot of childhood
memories and they also bring with them many challenges. Many of the companies
that made the original bikes like Schwinn are completely gone. Of course you can
buy a new Schwinn at Wal-Mart but it is not the same. The Schwinn company
went belly up many years back and Pacific Cycles bought the Schwinn name. Now
Schwinn, Mongoose, Next are all pretty much the same bikes with different decals
on them.

The Hawley Company and other distributors keep some old time parts around for
restoration, so many of the parts I can get are new but 3rd Party. The Original
Schwinn Tires actually say Schwinn right on them, none of the distributors we use
at this time have the tires that actually say Schwinn, but sometimes I have found
some good used ones at various yard sales, flea markets etc. I often look at flea
markets and yard sales just for that reason.

Let me tell you about what I found not long ago. I drove past a place the other day
that was having a yard sale. Nothing special the usual junk but one thing did catch
my eye. It was an old Huffy 10 speed. The gears were rusted til they would not even
move, the tires were shot and the bike looked horrible. I asked what they wanted
and they said 5.00 so I bought it and took it to the house. Jason has been wanting a
road bike, and with this cheap frame even though it is heavy, I can make him a
really nice bike. First I have to strip it down. I have already removed the wheels and
the front and rear deraileurs as well as the handlebars. I will probably be removing
the bottom bracket, crank etc in the next few days and plug that area up so the
frame can get a new coat of paint. If it would have been a Schwinn I probably would
restore it. There are many collectors of old Schwinn bikes. Huffy’s are not quite as
valued as a collector’s item. That is why it will be stripped down and made into a
road bike for Jason rather than restored to Original. Getting a road bike frame for
only 5.00 is still a bargain. I will also be able to re-use the handlebars and the fork. I
will put 26” wheels on it since he is only 13, maybe I can put 700C on it as he grows.
He does ride my Fuji ACR 2 quite often which has 700X 25’s on it. The seat will
have to be replaced. But I probably would have done that anyway. I figure the cost
of parts will be about 100.00 and about 10 hours labor, plus the cost of having it
painted. One of the auto body shops here in town has been painting frames for me
for 35.00 and that includes sandblasting the old paint off before painting the frame.
I could powder coat it, but don’t have a large enough oven yet. Maybe someday I
can get an oven that will fit bike frames and start powder coating some of them. I
get the old frames on a regular basis, but almost are Wal-Mart type bikes.

Jason and Kevin’s Dad, also named Jerry, picks up scrap metal especially old cars
and often gets old bicycles given to him also. The bikes are worth about 1 cent per
pound at the junk yard so a 40 lb bike nets about 40 cents. Instead of selling them to
the junk dealer he gives them to me and I use what I can, fix what I can and give
him back the scrap. I have offered many times to pay him for the bikes but he will
not take the money.

I really like getting those old bikes to repair. A short time back a person brought me
3 bikes that he wanted the store to sell on consignment and all of them were old
antique machines. One was a 3 wheeled Schwinn Town and Country with a big old
metal basket on the back and a small decal that says OSU Columbus, Ohio. It
needed some TLC and 3 new tires and tubes, but once I lubed it up, cleaned it up
some and put some new tires on it, the grandkids and I had a blast testing it out. I
rode it around the block a couple times, but Jason and Kevin tested it quite
thoroughly. It will need a new set of pedals and a few other things, but it really is
not in that bad of shape for its age, probably around 1970 or in that area
somewhere. There is a website I have heard about but not actually been too that can
run serial numbers on these antiques and give a bunch of information.

There is nothing greater than the enthusiasm of a child and my grandchildren keep
showing me that all the time. The bike still needs some work but we have it in the
shop as a “restorable antique” and it has been tested quite thoroughly by the best
testers in the world, children. Come by the shop sometime and take a look at the
bikes, especially the old ones, and meet the grandkids too.

Cycling and other stuff

Looks like I have a chance to really get a lot of cycling in for the next couple of days. The Van broke down, so I really have little choice. If they don’t have it ready today I won’t be able to get to work tonight without cycling the 37 miles to the hospital. I have ridden that far many times, so the distance  is not really a problem. I average about 15 MPH over that area so it will take close to 2.5 hours to get there. Once I am there I will work for 10 hours. Then come back here which will take another 2.5 hours. This is time I am normally sleeping since I am working nights and start back on this rotation tonight.  The loss of sleep will probably be the hardest thing to deal with.

This much cycling will be fantastic for my training regimen for the Golden Olympics, and will also be great for dropping a few pounds, which I need to do anyway, so it will just be something that has to be done, and I will do it.

The Golden Olympics will be held in September in Grovania, where I will race a 5 K Time Trial, a 20 K Road Race, and a 10 K Time Trial in a 2 day period. It is pretty hilly there, so I need to get some climbing in, and the road between here and the hospital has plenty of long drawn out hills. The ones up North are more steep than the ones in this area. This year is a Qualifying year for the Nationals. If I qualify then I will get to race in Cleveland Ohio next year.

Yesterday I started building a wall that will become a room for a new tenant that will be moving in the store with us. Since the Van was not available I used Jim’s van to get the lumber but rode the bike to the store to work on the walls etc. I am riding a KHS Alite 40 Mountain Bike pulling a small trailer. The trailer I am carrying tools and such back and forth, so that adds a lot of weight and should actually be good for my training. The first year I competed I did not get the road bike until a week before the competition. I just kept riding the mountain bike and when I raced the first time I took a Bronze and two Silver Medals in the same events I will race this year.  I have managed to qualify for all the nationals since I started racing in the Golden Olympics. Cycling has been a lot of fun for me and one physician actually told me that it was probably keeping me alive.

The room I am building was supposed to be 25 X 16 or 400 SF. I managed to get the 25′ section up but realized when I started to put the 16′ section up that it isn’t 16 ” it is 14′ so the Square Footage has changed considerably. What is supposed to be 400 SF is only 340, so I will have to extend the wall down another 5 feet. Then they will be getting a little  over the 400 SF that they are paying for. Actually when you take off the 4″ for the wall since the floor space is what they are paying for the room will be 13’8″ X 29 which will be really close to 400 SF.

I just signed up so can’t tell you how effective it is, but a friend says she is having good luck with it.

Bicycle Therapy?

My wife and I ride our bikes as often as we can for at least a few miles each morning. We both find it relaxing and sort of like bicycle therapy.  I really think bicycle therapy is an excellent and accurate description. We rode this morning I had tire start going flat at about 1 mile so we came back, but even that short ride helped considerably. Ruth riding the bike is relaxing and I have to agree. It clears the head, allows you time to think and if you are not racing or training, just riding for exercise then it is indeed relaxing.

Albert Einstein was a cyclist and even said once that he came up with the Theory of Relativity while riding his bike.  The Wright Brothers were cyclists and owned a bicycle shop in Dayton Ohio. I wonder if they ever thought of their bikes as a therapy tool?

The rest of the day was not near as enjoyable.

We had an appointment with a new Urologist for Scot, and that rally went well. It did take some time though as when we arrived at 1:30 PM for the appointment the Doctor was in the ER taking care of another patient.

Scot seemed to really like Dr. Lyon though and everything went pretty smooth once the Doctor arrived from the ER. While we were in the office I received a call from the owner of the Book Store where the biks shop is located. Jim wanted to know if I could frame in wall for him, 25 X 16 and put a door in it. I said that would not be a major problem, pretty simple straight forward job. Only really need to build 2 walls so that makes it even better.  He said he could not pay until September. I told him that I could use the money but that I could wait til September to get it. Maybe by September I won't even need it, that would be perfect.

He gave me a check to go get the materials, but when I went to my van it would not start. I have a Chrysler Town and Country Mini Van that has RKE ( Remote Key Entry) and uses a "key" similar to what Mercedes uses. Mine now says "bad Key" and the van won't start or even try. Lucky that I have USAA Insurance. They sent a Tow Truck out, towed the Van to Robert Hutson Chrysler and gave me a ride in the Truck to the house. Driver said he had towed many vehicles for that same reason. Mike (the driver) dropped me off at the house and I called several building supply places for prices on lumber.  We have Lowes, Home Depot, Stones and Shepherds here in Moultrie, so I got a lot of different prices. Most were close but Stone's and Shepherds both deliver Free, so I will call back in the morning verify what I need then ride my bike over and pay them for the lumber and tell them to deliver it to the store.

Hopefully I can get the Van back Tomorrow, as I have to work at the hospital Wednesday. I will have to carry my tools out to the shop in my little bike trailer. It can only hold 100 lbs at a time, so may have to make more than 1 trip.  I will probably just take the cutoff saw and the square out there. Some of my tools are already there so maybe I won't need too much else.

I will need to get some nails for the framing but they can just deliver them with the wood. I will get my bicycle therapy while doing some errands tomorrow.

Scot to the Doctor Again

It seems sometimes like we have to see an awful lot of physicians. Just a couple weks back we were at Dr. Astwani's office for Chris, Monday we have to see another doctor for Scot. I have been putting off seeing my own doctor and really need to get some tests done as well as my "physical" for the Golden Olympics

August 14th at 1:30 PM we have to take our son Scot to see the Urologist. Scot had his left kidney removed at Emory University Hospital last September. This is a followup appointment to make sure all the cancer is gone. We will be seeing a completely new physician here in Moultrie that has just moved in from Dallas Texas.

Scot had Renal Papillary Carcinoma with 2 tumors located in the left kidney. It was sort of odd how this was found. In late 2010 we noticed that Scot's was having some enlargement in the genitals and took him to see Dr. Kundi who is his GP, Dr Kundi sent him to a Urolgist who ordered a Ultrasound and found that he had a hernia. Scot had to have surgery for that and when he did he had a chest X-Ray. The chest X ray showed what the Radiologist thought was a fluid build up on the left lung.

That fluid build up on the lung turned out to be a mass on his left kidney which was verified through an Ultrasound and a CT Scan of the chest and abdomen. Dr. Kundi then sent him to see Dr. Master in Atlanta at Emory University Hospital. At first they said he probably would not need surgery and we were relieved to some degree. Then the call came to me at the hospital where I work full-time telling me they had scheduled Scot for Kidney removal due to the results of the tests done at Emory.

Ruth Chris and I all headed for Atlanta and got Scot settled in. Ruth stayed with him at the hospital, since Scot has Autism and she was the best person to give him the support he needed. She is also his caregiver and we did not want to break that cycle. Chris and I stayed at a motel during the night a drove over to the hospital during the day. We set in the waiting room while Scot went through surgery. Dr. Master came in and told us that he did extremely well and that the other organs around the bad kidney looked very healthy. He said he wished he had taken some pictures since they were so healthy. That of course made us feel good. Scot was going to be OK. The surgery was on a Thursday and we expected to come home on Monday, but instead Scot recovered so well and quickly that they sent us home Saturday morning.

Bryan and his wife came down from South Carolina to be with his big brother during the surgery, they went back the next day and Chris and I took some time to check out the local Bike shops and other places. We found a really neat shop that was actually a Fuji Dealer which was pretty neat, since the shop I work out of here in Moultrie is also a Fuji Dealer.

Anyway at 1:30 on August 14th we will go for the second follow-up for Scot. We are hoping and praying that the cancer does not come back, but if it does we will deal with it somehow.

I have to make an appointment for my physical before the 19th of September, and we need to take Ruth to get some new glasses and an eye exam. Seems like you start seeing more and more doctors as you get older.

Happy Birthday Chris Goodwin and Jason Morey

Yesterday our family all got together an took a trip to Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, Georgia. We go there a few time a year and get season tickets for the immediate family and the grandkids too.

This trip was a little different as we were also celebrating Jason's Birthday who turned 13 on August 8th and Christopher's Birthday who will turn 32 on Augist 13th.   Our son Bryan brought his wife and youngest daughter (the older daughter stayed in South Carolina because of her job).  Our daughter Tracey brought Jason and Kevin. We brought Scot and Chris and we all had a great time.

We got there about noon. First a picnic with baked chicken, pimento cheese and a whole lot of other stuff, then into the park. Jason and Kevin want to ride just about every ride, so we make a lot of stops. Chris is in a wheelchair so I get the honor of pushing him around the park, but don't really mind, he seems to enjoy the scenery but it is pretty hot. Chris has Autism and no speech, he also cannot walk for long periods because of his physical condition. One time he walked about  a mile to support Cystic Fibrosis and he made he walk but then spent the next hour in the van recovering. That is when we talked with Dr. Cooper and got him a wheelchair for places when he may have to walk long distances.

Anyway first we had the picnic, then the rides, and the rides and more rides. They have little go carts there and Jason took one out while Kevin and I raced one of the 2 seaters.  Then Kevin and Jason each raced he little Kool Kats, and we fed the parakeets. After all that people were getting thirsty so we got some refills on the souvenir  bottles and headed for Splash Island. Splash Island is inside the park and  has various water slides, a wave pool and many other water related attractions the the kids love. Chris seemed to be getting hot and really was having issues so I took Scot and Chris back to the van to give Chris his medicine. If he gets too hot he can go into a seizure and his meds were in he van.  I reached the van and went to get my keys, but had left them on Splash Island with Ruth and the others, so called them on the cell phone and had them bring the keys.

Scot, Chris and I met Miss Sarah, Scot's instructor at Green Oaks on the way to the van. I told here we were taking Chris to get his meds and she told me that her children and grandchildren were on their way to Splash Island.

At the van while we were waiting on the keys, a family was at a picnic table and offered us some water and then some chips. We started talking and found that they were also from Moultrie, the man was a Nurse at Turning Point Hospital and the Lady was a Special education teacher at Colquitt County Schools. Funny I had just fixed a bicycle for the Administrator at Turning Point and Chris Graduated from Colquitt County Special ED.

Once Chis had his meds I kept him in the van with the AC on for a while to make sure he was not too hot and that he would not have a seizure. About that time around 7 PM Ruth and Bryan came out followed by Tracey, Tina and the rest of the families and we had another picnic then it was time for us all to go back home. Splash Island closes at 7 PM and the Park at 10. It was around 8 when we left to head back to Moultrie.

It really was wonderful having the family all together for the day. Bryan said it will probably be another year before we are able to do that again.  Today it is cleanup time, the van was loaded down with presents, food and other stuff, so all the stuff has to be removed, the van swept out etc.

I unloaded it all this morning and mowed the grass in the front, Ruth took the sweeper to it and washed clothes, dishes etc pretty much all day while taking care of Scot and Chris. Jason and Kevin are busy playing with Jason's new toys and other presents. He really wanted a spy cam thing, and we found one on Clearance so he got that. I went out an picked up a couple of old bikes that he had and repaired them. They are riding good now, so he can have a bike at his house. He told me he has a bike at his other Grandparents house that he needs fixed, so I may go by and pick that up, see what is wrong with it and fix it up for him to ride there. Jason also got a small tool kit that he really loves. that way he will have his own tools to work on his bike with.

Chris is getting a new desk for his wheelchair. I have not found one that I like for him yet, but was looking at the way the baskets are hooked on the chairs at Home Depot and may just make him something that will work better than anything we can buy anyway.

Now I have to go to mow the backyard, but will post again soon.
